It Might be Gold

image

Dip your words in glitter
It might be gold
Paint rainbow on your skin
Scream at the top of your lungs
Bet they’ll pay attention
Preach hate
They’ll pay attention
But say
“It ain’t that bad”
They’ll smirk at you
Who are you to think so highly of yourself
To see the world in such a positive light
Watch them call you ignorant and blind
Because you don’t stick to the couch
Watching the lies they call news
Let me see my people !
No
Let me help my people !
No
Can I be proud of my people
See the diversity of my people
Scholars and “Thugs” alike
Oh yes my people
Speak the truth and it might be gold
